Fraternity

Greek

IFC

Inter-Fraternity Council, the representative governing body of all fraternities on campus who participate in the council. Be cautious--fraternities that are not a part of the IFC may condone hazing and are unregulated by UCLA

Pledge

A trial member of a fraternity who is new to the organization, but on his way to becoming an initiate (active member) of the chosen fraternity

Pledge Quarter

A trial period for the pledge to bond with the members of the fraternity, and to determine if the fraternity life is what he would like to see

Rush

The activity or activities by which a fraternity seeks new members. These activities are always FREE and at no cost for the rushees to attend

Rushee

A person interested or who has expressed interest in becoming a member of a fraternity

Legacy

A person who has a relative that was a member of a Fraternity
